South Marine Park
Whilst walking along the seafront in South Shields you cannot miss South Marine Park. Designed by Mathew Hall and  its creation began  in 1866 out of the ballast hills and spoil tips by John Peebles Head Gardener.

Recently restored, the Park is well known for its boating lake and the train running around it.  However, give youself a little time and have a walk round it where you will find lots of little niches and areas where you can relax in your own world  and perhaps have a sandwich or drink.

Activities around the Lake
Boating in Marine Park
Sailing the Seven Seas - such innocence in those days

The views over the coast are fantastic  from the prominade area above the bandstand so removed from the activities of the lake and the fairground in the distance.
